Dr. Monika Kornacka: Innovation in clinical psychology: from mobile apps to virtual reality

The increasing accessibility of new technologies gives new dynamics and opens new opportunities to the research in clinical psychology, but also to the psychological treatment. The processes and mechanisms responsible for risk, maintenance and relapse of various psychological disorders, which were possible to evaluate only through self- report measures or through expensive research equipment available in the laboratory, can be nowadays assessed also in more ecological settings. The lecture, taking an example of mood, anxiety disorders, and executive functions evaluation will discuss how researchers, but also therapists and clinical staff might use new technologies in their everyday practice. The potential application of stationary and mobile eye-tracking, virtual and augmented reality along with mobile phone application merged with physiological measures will be discussed and illustrated with examples of research and clinical application.
